New licence awarded to James Chamberlain Friday 30th August 1861 In 1865, James Chamberlain is given as a grocer and wine dealer at Post Office Street. In March 1874 he advertised the ROYAL WINE STORES, Post Office Street and his large stock of Madeira, at 38/- the dozen, a marvellous Wine. Rendered unusable by war damage April 1942. Business transferred 28.12.1942 to temporary premises opposite (25 Exchange Street - Known as the WINE & SPIRIT SHOP or WINE & SPIRIT STORES) P. G. Back informed the Magistrates by letter dated 28.01.1958 that the house would cease trading at 10:30 pm on the 30th January 1958. |
