The "White" beer guide
of 1977 records:- A Freehouse. Adnams Bitter on handpump. Bass Charrington - Bass, BB, and IPA on handpumps. Formerly the Alma. (which was one of the few Watney houses to have any character) Extended, refurbished and renamed, but on the whole the results are quite pleasing. As the Harp lager salesman said "It's not so much what you can say for it, it's what you can't say against it." Beer is well kept and the service reasonable, except at lunchtimes when they are more interested in selling their pub grub. |
