The "White" beer guide of 1977 records:-
A Freehouse.

Adnams Bitter on handpump.
Bass Charrington - Bass, BB, and IPA on handpumps.

Formerly the Alma. (which was one of the few Watney houses to have any character)
Extended, refurbished and renamed, but on the whole the results are quite pleasing.
As the Harp lager salesman said "It's not so much what you can say for it, it's what you can't say against it."
Beer is well kept and the service reasonable, except at lunchtimes when they are more interested in selling their pub grub.

The Norwich Pub Survey of 1986, compiled by the Norwich Society, in association with Norwich City Council, assessed the house:-

Approx date of building Listed Quality Pre-war fittings surviving
External Internal
1772 with later alterations No 5 No
Interesting fascia board and exposed beams (sham?) over gabled dormer windows.
One long bar with `gas log' fire in brick fireplace.
Food counter.
Quite sympathetically modernised.
