![]() March 1997 A new house, opened 18th August 1892. The MARLBOROUGH STORES, beerhouse to 22nd August 1899. Licenses of the BARGE, the JUBILEE and the STAFF OF LIFE given up in consideration of a new full licence. On Tuesday 27th August 1901, applicants for Music and Singing Licences were asked to signify their presence in order to allow the licence to be granted. When it came to the turn of Mr. John Easton, in reply to the Magistrate's Clerk, he replied that he was present, "With reluctance, Yes sir." The Chairman asked the Chief Constable to repeat what had been said and upon confirmation, stated that no application had been made and the justices passed to the next business.
