Saturday 18th March 1809. Daniel Town Junior advised his Friends and the
Public that in consequence of his Father (for whom he had acted as a
servant for many years) having taken a partner, he had now commenced
business on his own account. He would accommodate those gentlemen, who
may please to favour him with their commands, with safe horses and good
Gigs, or Saddle Horses, by applying at his house, the Ordnance Arms. |
On Tuesday 12th April 1814, at the Norwich Quarter
Sessions, Daniel Town and his wife Sarah were prosecuted by Rebecca
Whitworth who claimed a violent assault had been made on her on 25th
March 1813. Mrs. Whitworth had disrespected Mrs Town and Mr. Town had reacted to the abusive and troublesome woman. Mrs Town had come to the aid of her husband. Daniel Town was found guilty of unmanly conduct and fined 1s and One Month's Imprisonment. Sarah Town was acquitted. <Ordnance Arms not mentioned> ~ Daniel Town (Senior?) had use of a two-stalled Stable, situated in Upper Goat Lane, St. Gregory, in October 1823. ~ On Thursday 5th May 1825, the inquest into the death of 49 year old Daniel Town took place at the Prince of Orange, St. Julian. Verdict - Found Drowned (In the Wensum). ~ Mr. Daniel Town, of Heigham, formerly a horse dealer, died Thursday 20th September 1832 - Age 87 (This appears to be D. Town senior, who would have been about 64 in 1809. Mrs Town, aged 67, had died March 1821. ) |
