Robert Greene was apprenticed to Lawrence Hodgyns as a saddler. He became free during the year 1558 to 1559. On 12th October 1587, saddler Robert Grene was ordered not to sell typple, bread, beer or ale. On 16th October 1587, cordwainer Robert Grene was licensed to keep the QUEENS HEAD at Tombland. A mistake for the MAIDS HEAD ? In 1591, Robert Grene was interred at the church at St. Martin at Palace and then said to be `Of the WHITE HORSE.' Same as the QUAYSIDE - St. SIMON & JUDE house ? At the Licensing Sessions held Monday 26th August 1867 a `very influentially signed memorial was presented against the QUEENS, which had recently opened as a musical-hall.' The licensee Henry Foulsham had been twice before the Bench and the magistrates unanimously refused to renew his licence. |
