The Lynn & Fakenham Railway opened in 1882. By 1883 the Eastern & Midland Railway Company were the operators. On Thursday 9th March 1905, Mr. Salt, manager of the refreshment rooms under the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway Committee said that the City Station refreshment room did very little trade and was operated at a loss. It was only carried on as a convenience to travellers. Under the note to first schedule of the 1904 Licensing Act, it was requested that only one-third of the compensation charge be applied to the business. The Bench granted the application. The railway station was severely damaged by enemy action during 1942. The Customs Officer confirmed by letter dated 29th January 1943 that trading had been interrupted. Licence `In Suspense' at some time after 1951. |
