As given in the Alehouse Recognisances 1760/1807. One of 40 houses named as being engaged for the Reception of Freeholders for Sir John Woodhouse and Sir Edward Astley's Friends on the Day of Election, Wednesday 14th April 1784. Part of an Estate to be Sold by Private Contract, as advertised 9th April 1785. The Estate included a Brewery and 21 Drawing Houses with 16 Brewer's Licences to them; also, as well as this house, the Baker's Arms, St Augustine, the Cat & Fiddle, St. Saviour's and the Cock at Barford.
