On Wednesday 20th December 1815 all `that neat HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE,
Fixtures, Stock of Wines & Spirits, a Horse and Gig & Effects, the property
of Mr. John English, at his WINE & SPIRIT VAULTS, St John Timberhill,' were
to be sold by auction.
The furniture comprised four-post and field bedsteads, with cotton and
dimity furnitures, seasoned feather beds and suitable bedding, mahogany
chest of drawers, bureau, chairs, sofa, dining and tea tables, pier glasses,
Kidderminster carpets and assortment of other articles. Also the Stock In
Trade, comprising 19 dozen bottles of port, two small casks of port and
tent, fine sherry, 62 gallons of brandy, 34 gallons of gin, fine rum, and
rum shrub, spirits of wine, a quantity of iron-bound empty casks, 30 dozen
empty bottles, copper and pewter measures, and numerous other effects.
