Mrs. Sarah Cross married James Howes on Tuesday, 11th January
1876. On Tuesday, 15th February 1876 the licence was transferred
from Sarah to James Howes, however, it was reported that "the change
in licenseship involved no alteration in the position of the hostess
at the hostelry".
Mrs. Sarah Cross is still given as licensee in the 1877 Harrod
trades directory.

By the 1930's the house was the OLDE BEAMS Bookshop.
In 1982 it was the OLDE BEAMS Cake Shop.
