Renamed by Alfred Death.
Mr. Alfred Death applied for a spirit licence Friday 8th September 1865.
A numerously and respectably signed recommendation was presented to the
magistrates.
Licence Refused.
Friday 7th September 1866 - Application for a licence - Refused.
Mr Death applied, for the third time, for a spirit licence at the September
Petty Sessions September 1867. Refused, the magistrates saying they
had heard all the facts. The applicant said he would re-apply the
following year.
8th February 1868 - "A new branch of trade has been opened up here,
in a family-ale brewing establishment, by Mr. A. T. Death who is highly
respected as an enterprising parishioner. His sterling honesty of
character and purpose cannot fail to advantage him in his new business
relationship."
Friday 11th September 1868 - Application for (spirit) licence - Refused.
Became the CROWN BREWERY
following the liquidation of Alfred Death and purchase by Bullards.
