On Saturday 27th August 1890, Daniel Yaxley was accused of
assaulting Elizabeth J. Balls, a domestic servant in his employ.
It was claimed that injuries were caused by her falling from a
chair and that Mr. Yaxley had only put the girl out of the
house, as she had used very bad language.
The Bench fined Mr. Yaxley 20s and costs or 14 days'
imprisonment.
Mentioned by name in a court case 11th July 1896 concerning the theft of a mackintosh coat from
the CROSS KEYS, Mattishall Burgh.
