On  Wednesday 13th October 1858 an inquest was held into the death of greengrocer John Burgell, age 58, who had died earlier in the day.
It was heard that Burgell had been complaining of stomach pains before setting out to his garden at the North End at just before five o'clock in the morning.  He stopped at the  East & West Flegg public house and asked for two pennyworth of gin. This he took along with some pepper, dusted into his mouth. Feeling much better he repeated the dosage. Just before six o'clock he left the house and on his route he met Mr. E. Collins, beerhouse keeper. He asked for half a pint of ale and drank a little, but fell to the floor insensible and died.

Before the magistrates on Tuesday 26th October 1858, beerhouse keeper Edward Collins was fined 5s and the court fees, for having his house the NORTH INN, open at illegal on the previous Sunday and persons drinking therein.

Unfortunately no exact house location is given other than at North End..
In  the 1851 census and 1856 Craven directory, Mr. Edward Collins is given as a Market Gardener at Apollo Place, North End.
No mention in 1858 Post Office directory.
In 1861 he is again given as a gardener at North Road, Apollo Place, one entry immediately before the APOLLO TAVERN.

In 1858 other licensees appear to be named at the NORTH END RETREAT, the NORTH STAR and the NORTH TOWER.
