The BALLAST BOAT 1741 to 1893. Licence refusal considered at the Kings Lynn Compensation Authority Meeting on Tuesday 9th July 1907. It was said that there were seven other licensed houses within 450 feet and that the house was occasionally used by lightermen, but there were plenty of other facilities for them. A shop adjoined the bar and since they were connected there was a difficulty in supervision. Sergeant Hunt said he kept observation on the house and it was kept very respectable with lodgers frequently in residence. It was said to be the most commodious house in the street with a trade of 92 barrels of beer, 54 dozen bottles, 11 gallons of spirits and 323 dozens of mineral waters per year. It had been owned by Messrs. Bagge for 102 years. The licence was renewed. Referred for Compensation 4th March 1935 |
