Ordered Thursday 28th February 1878 to repay £1 2s 6d to shoemaker Thomas Chamberlain. The "Shoe Club" met fortnightly at the house and members paid 1s towards getting boots and 2d for food or drink. Once 14s was raised, a draw would take place to decide who got the footwear. Chamberlain had supplied the boots, but was owed the sum claimed. The club was not a duly registered society and was described as "of questionable legality".
