 The St. Edmund's Brewery was established 1867 by brewer William 
				Newell.
 In 1888 and 1889 he was offering:-

				Alice, wife of William Newell of St. Edmund's Brewery, died 25th 
				January 1894, aged 51 years. 
				  
				On Monday, 29th October 1894 the licence was transferred from 
				William Newell to Percy Herbert Phillips.
 
 Mr. Phillips of the Brewery, Downham, advertised Friday 3rd 
				April 1925 that a16 h.p. Wolverhampton Sunbeam, 4-seater tourer; 
				all-weather hood, side curtains, 5 electric lamps; upholstered 
				in real leather; owner driven; in perfect condition throughout, 
				was to be Sold Cheap owing to a death.
