According to the Universal British Directory 1793 - 8 "The Dereham and Swaffham Stage, lets out from the Maids Head, Dereham, every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at two o'clock in the afternoon. Stops at Thetford in the early evening and continues on at 6 o'clock in the morning, arriving at the Saracens Head Inn, Snow Hill, London at 5 o'clock that afternoon." ALSO "That between the Maids Head Inn and Mr Knapps shop, formerly the George Inn, was a standing drain of water from the brewing office of Mr William Taylor." Not identified on c1757 estate map.
