At Sessions held Tuesday 17th October 1836 it was
confirmed that there were
21 Public Houses and 14 Beer Houses in the parish of
East Dereham.

On Thursday 7th July 1814, to celebrate the Return of Peace, the morning was
ushered in with a merry peal and firing of guns.
After Divine Service a grand procession took place, with effigies of John Bull
and Bonaparte, which were afterwards placed on top of the shambles.
An excellent dinner of plum pudding and beef was provided in the Market-place at
2:00pm for 1800 poor inhabitants.
At 5:00pm sports were commenced at Neatherd Moor where upwards of 6000
spectators assembled.
The evening concluded with a bonfire and a grand display of fireworks in the
Market-place.
