At the Petty Sessions held Friday 1st September 1865 the Great Eastern
Railway Company applied for transfer of the licence to the Secretary of
the Company. The Bench thought this would set an objectionable precedent
since the Secretary would not directly manage the room himself or
supervise his servant. The Act of Parliament requiring that the person
who keeps the house for the sale of excisable liquors to be licensed,
and not the house itself. The licence was eventually granted to Mr.
Parke, of the
KINGS HEAD,
who had the lease of the rooms.
Licence renewal not applied for 09.02.1968
