As at Toftwood or Toftwood Common 1865, 1875, 1883, 1888, 1904 & 1937.
Licensee Miles Riches was found guilty of allowing drinking in his house
at illegal hours. The offence had taken place on Sunday 3rd March 1867
and although Mr. Riches offered the excuse that he was away from home at
the time, a previous conviction was recorded against him and he was
fined £1 and 11s costs.
Objection to the renewal of licence was made on Friday 16th February
1906.
Closure was proposed by S&P but not agreed at meeting with Bullards 29.05.1962.
Sales
given for 1961 as 88 barrels.
A report dated June 1969, prepared by S&P for Watney Mann recommended immediate
closure.
"The trade bad, Licensed rooms are poor &
beer is drawn from the wood.
Tenants on one years notice, to expire 1970."
