Mr. Twiddy claimed that unfortunately his clock was fast so he opened
the house too early. This did not impress the magistrates. |

Mr. Twiddy was fined 5s with costs, on Monday 31st January 1870 having
been charged by Weights and Measures Inspector, Superintendent Blomfield,
of having four earthenware mugs of defective measure.
He was warned that a fine of 5s a mug would be imposed if they appeared
again.
