On Saturday 18th April 1908 somebody called Knight sang "Cruel Ship's Carpenter" followed by a chap called Pete who performed "Spurn Point" and "Turkish Lady" to Ralph Vaughan Williams who was visiting the area collecting traditional songs. Unfortunately the name of the house in which the entertainment took place is not yet discovered. (Information thanks to the researches of Alan Helsdon 2017) |
