Only found by name in the 1836 Register of Electors. In Whites 1836 directory Thomas Bacon is only described as a swine dealer. In the 1840, 1846 & 1848 registers the property is described as Copyhold house & land owned by Thomas Burcham of Briston with Thomas Bacon still tenant. The 1841 census records Mr Bacon as a dealer, living at the Green (Thurning Road ?) In 1845 White describes him as a shopkeeper and cattle dealer. In the 1851 census he appears as a cattle dealer and small occupier, his age is 55. |
