On Tuesday and Wednesday, 15th and 16th September 1778, during
Race Week, on each day there would be a Substantial Ordinary served at
the House of Robert Bacon, the White Lion, Holt.
A Cock fight held here 30th March 1791, occupant then John Howard.
Mr. J. Skiffins announced 14th February 1795 that he had taken the Inn.
The same notification offered the
BLACK BOYS, Holt to be
available for Immediate Let.

Thomas Black was examined for bankruptcy, as reported 25th October 1905.
His deficiency was £191 6s 3d. Bullards brewery had seized (some
of) his outdoor
effects to settle his debt with them.
On 15th November 1905 it was announced that Intended Dividends would be
paid on 29th November.
Landlord Shepherd was warned, February 1909 that holding whist drives,
in the billiard room, for the Conservative Club, was illegal. His
licence was renewed on the understanding that the holding of whist
drives would cease.
