JOHN LOVICK
& farmer
Age 44 in 1861
(Died Q1 1906, age 88 ?)
* 1854 - 1864
Fine of 1s with 12s costs for having his house open for sale of beer at illegal hours on Friday 18th April 1864.

In 1851 John Lovick, age 32 is listed as a Farmer and Thatcher, employing a man and a boy. His wife Emma is aged 25 and they reside `Next the Turnpike, Horsham St. Faiths.'

Mr. John Lovick applied to the Magistrates, Saturday 10th September 1859, for a Spirit Licence for his beer-shop. He had posted his intentions on notices attached to the Church and Chapel doors over the previous week. No parishioners had indicated in any way that they would oppose the application. He submitted that it was his right to assume that their silence was tantamount to consent. The Magistrates disagreed and the application was unanimously dismissed.
