August 1984 Possibly known as the KING WILLIAM to 1841. The Horse & Groom, Free Beer House, was For Sale by Auction Thursday, 11th February 1858, by direction of the Trustee of the Will of Mrs. Elizabeth Cole, deceased. Included were a Brew-house, Barn, Stable, Gig-house and other Buildings, a Pightle of Arable Land, also a Cottage adjoining the Public House. The beerhouse then in the occupation of Mr. James Hill and his undertenant, and (in Cottage) Mr. P. S. Cole It was reported that on Monday 27th September 1886, Ezekiel Sparke applied for a spirit licence. The decision was deferred to the next Brewster Sessions. Full licence granted 14th September 1964, following closure of the GREYHOUND. Closed 1968 - Reopened 1974 (New licence provisionally granted 17th February 1974) |
