In February 1909 it was reported that the Tap room was about 13 feet by 13½ feet. The house was believed to be doing more business that any other house in the parish because beer was ½d per pint cheaper. Average yearly sales reported as 144 barrels and 26 gallons of spirits. In 1909, Mr. Langley stated the house had been in occupation of his family since it opened, "about 80 years ago". ( So c1830). Confirmation of Closure by Compensation given 28th May 1915. Closed by Compensation 1915. On Tuesday 21st September 1915, owners Steward & Patteson Ltd, were awarded compensation of £752 2s 6d for closure of the house. The tenant, Mary Ann Langley to receive 10% of that award. |
