On Monday 6th March 1905 Police Superintendent Lowe reported that the house was only 27 yards from the Rose & Crown, 17 yards from the Prince of Wales, 150 yards to Coach & Horses, 156 yards to Duke's Head, 220 yards to St. Nicholas Store, 312 yards to Bell Hotel, 325 yards to King's Head, 341 to Railway Tavern, 342 to White Hart, 375 to Chequers, 413 to Anchor, 446 to King's Arms and 459 yards to the Globe. That was 9 fully licensed houses and 4 beerhouses. The superintendent thought the Horse Shoe Inn to be unnecessary. Provisional licence granted and houses referred to the County Licensing Committee.
