Valuation given 25.07.1889 as £350 As the SHADES in 1900 & 1904. On Monday 6th March 1905 Police Superintendent Lowe objected to licence renewal on the grounds that the house was not needed to meet the wants of the public. Other houses close by were said to be - Dog & Partridge 184 yards 1 foot, White Horse 232 yards 1 foot, Spread Eagle 252 yards, Angel 275 yards, Dolphin 387 yards 1 foot, Red Lion 340 yards, Green Dragon 324 yards 1 foot, Good Woman 359 yards 2 feet, Three Hoops 375 yards, Globe 462 yards 1 foot, Kings Arms 486 yards and the Chequers 492 yards 1 foot. It was said that Mr. Hooks was a good tenant and conducted the house very well. Provisional licence granted and house referred to the County Licensing Committee.
