As at Kirkfield 1851 ?

The Tithe Commissioners were to meet here Thursday 22nd April 1841. Location described as the house of Mr. Giddings, the Plough.

On Thursday 30th March 1848, at the Crown Court, it was heard that Mr. Whiteman had killed a pig for Mr. Farmer Mallett, a beerhouse keeper of Walpole St. Andrews. (KING JOHN). 41 year old Jewson Large was accused and found guilty of breaking into the dairy of Mr. Mallett and stealing a pickled pig and a leg of pork which Mr. Whiteman identified as his butchery.
Since the burglary had not disturbed the Mallett family, a lenient sentence was given. Instead of transportation for life, a transportation for ten years was given.

The members of the Marshland Ancient Order of Shepherds celebrated their anniversary here on Thursday 6th May 1880. Headed by the Wereham Saxtuba Band, they paraded the village and then returned to the Plough inn where dinner was served in a marquee by host Ingram. In the evening the younger members enjoyed dancing in the marquee whilst the elder ones adjourned to the club room and enjoyed some vocal and instrumental music. The weather being fine but cold, the members heartily enjoyed themselves during the day.

On Sunday 24th April 1881 about 100 members of the Marshland Shepherds Lodge again met at the Plough.

The 69th meeting of the Lodge was held here on Wednesday 4th May 1910.
