The Lynn District Ancient Order of Foresters was held here Thursday, 10th November 1853. The first anniversary of the Ancient Order of Foresters, Court Prospect 2596, took place here on Tuesday 3rd October 1854. About sixty sat down to a well-provided repast, which gave great credit to the landlord, Mr. Nichols. The brethren spent a very pleasant evening together, with song, toast, and sentiment. "A few friends" raised 10s for the Patriotic Fund, as reported 9th December 1854. ( A total of £2,179 13s 7½d had already been raised throughout Norwich before this donation, and many others, added some £250 ) Amongst the damage caused by the Great Gale of Tuesday 21st February 1860, part of the roof of the Farrier's Arms was taken off and landed in the church alley. Application made 22nd August 1891 for a music, singing and dancing licence. Only required for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. It was reported by the Chief Constable that the owners had been acquainted with complaints against the house and that they had done their best to rectify the matter by finding a new tenant. It was however only February 1891 that he had to write to the Commanding Officer of the garrison for the assistance of the military to protect the public from violence arising from rows outside the Farrier's Arms. Application Refused. Licence dropped 21st August 1895 in agreement with the Licensing Justices on grant of a new licence to Jonas Lake. (The licenses of the VICTORIA and the VILLA GARDENS were also traded in exchange for a new licence at the BRANFORD STORES) House later to reopen, by 2001, as the BELGIAN MONK Restaurant.
