In court Wednesday 30th August 1865, police-constable Crane swore to the fact that Robert Hickling, of Northumberland Street, kept his house open at an illegal hour on the previous Sunday. Hickling did not appear in court and was fined 1s with 11s costs, this being his first offence. In November 1896 publican Jesse Moore stood as the Conservative candidate in the election for a Councillor for the Mousehold Ward. There were only two candidates, Mr. L. Tillett for the Liberals who achieved 790 votes and Mr. Moore who managed 64 votes. The previous year a Liberal had been appointed unopposed. Music licence granted to William Staff Tuesday 7th October 1941. House damaged by enemy action April ? 1942. No evidence of house trading after 1942. Licence surrendered 12th July 1949 |
