On an undated
broadsheet, Mr Storrey from Mousehold is credited with opening the house as
the Morning Star. The Landlords of the nearby houses, (Grapes,
Pigeons and Bell) all apparently complained that he was selling beer and
stout too cheaply and that he would ruin the trade. Mr Storrer or Storrey was selling
beer for 3d a quart and Stout for 3½d a quart.
The licence was transferred from Mr. Storrer, deceased, to Mrs Maria
Storrer on Tuesday 29th March 1864. |
