18 Magdalen Street from 1908.
Found earlier as 21 Magdalen Street.

On Thursday 18th October 1855, Jonathan Nunn, landlord of the RED LION, was summoned for having his house open and persons drinking therein, at three o'clock the previous Sunday. Admitting the charge, the accused said that he would no longer keep a public house for all Norwich was worth. He said that he had no interest in the house and had merely been put in there by Messrs. Morgan till they could find a tenant. He did not own the furniture and had no money to pay the 10s fine. He had not a shilling or loaf of bread in the house. Messrs. Morgan paid the fine and costs.

Renamed (or trading as) the
VIKING STORES at some time after 1954, before October 1956

Note:-

The existence of at least 2 Red Lions in Magdalen Street leads to difficulty in placing licensees in the period before 1867.

Where there is doubt, entries are marked ?
