An invoice, headed the Railway Hotel, was issued by Mr. C. Clarke
in January 1875. Mr. J. B. Matthews was charged 12/6d for ½ ton of carrots, supplied
January 11th 1875 and 5/- for the hire of a horse on the 14th of January.
At the Brewster Sessions, Tuesday, 2nd February 1915, Mrs. Mary Eva
Bodmer applied for the licence to be transferred to her, whilst her
husband was serving his country at the front. The previous week the
licence had been transferred to the brewers' representative, Mr. Mason.
The Bench considered Mrs. Bodmer, at only at 25 years old, to be unsafe
running the house, and confirmed that Mr. Mason would hold the licence
until March, when it was hoped a responsible person would be found to
run the house.
