It was reported that Edmund Bonny applied for a full licence 28th August 1865 - Application refused. House said to be frequented by seamen and the life-boat's crew. As at Pier Road 1875 As Suffolk Tavern 1881 On Friday 13th January 1905 the licence was transferred from Mr. Hastings to the new tenant. The new rent was said to be £20 per year. Lacons advised that all their houses were valued at 32% above the rentals. At the Licence Transfer sessions Friday 18th May 1906, the licence was temporarily transferred to Mrs. Wales. The outgoing tenant said he had been at the house since July 1905 and had been unable to make a living. Mrs Wales hover said that she had been in the business for twenty-four years and under Lacon's for seventeen years. She said that if you don't attend to business you can't get a living. House possibly closed September 1909 since Ellen Wales is last licensee entered in licence register and in that month she started at the OLD COMMODORE Referred to Compensation 13.02.1911 |
