On Wednesday 28th August 1872, the magistrates
attended a special sessions at Mundford to discuss the new 1872
legislation regarding licenses to persons keeping Inns, Beerhouses, &c.
Although there was some merit in allowing houses to open earlier, for
the convenience of agricultural workers, such opening hours would be
discussed at a later meeting.
However it was stated an existing house and premises must be worth an
annual value of £15 at the least, before an old licence could be
considered for renewal.
For a new or beerhouse the value must be at least £12.
Notices would be sent to all houses not meeting the stated yearly
values, instructing them to improve their properties, otherwise licences
would not be renewed. |
