Address a Tower Road in 1856 and 1860. Mr. Cattermole was discovered playing cards with a militiaman, between the hours of 10 and 11 on the night of Friday 21st December 1855. The militiaman was billeted at the house. A fine of 40s was imposed the following day. All landlords who had soldiers billeted upon them were reprimanded for allowing the men to sit up later than military law permitted. Licence application (full) by William Cattermole refused Friday 5th September 1856, the magistrates refusing to hear any application for new licenses. The event repeated Friday 4th September 1857 Mr. Cattermole applied for a new licence Tuesday 6th September 1859. The magistrates voted 8 in favour and 13 against - Refused. At the licensing Sessions held 2nd September 1862 the application for a (full) licence by William Cattermole was refused. Mr Cattermole applied for a full licence 11th September 1863 - again Refused - without discussion. Mr Cattermole applied for a full licence August 1864 - again Refused. Mr. Cattermole applied for a full licence Monday 28th August 1865. Granted on condition that licence of the YARMOUTH ARMS be dropped. Stood on opposite corner to BLACKFRIARS TAVERN. Licence given up 21.04.1937 in consideration of a full licence granted to the LACON ARMS. |
